Latest Genie cameras from Dalsa make their début at VISION 2008
Dalsa Corp of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, used the VISION 2008 trade fair that was held recently in Stuttgart, Germany, to introduce two new models of its Genie camera family, which comply with the GigE Vision interface standard.
The Genie C1600 and Genie M1600 cameras feature a 2-megapixel, high-resolution sensor that is ideal for industrial imaging applications in the semiconductor, robotics and traffic control industries, says the firm.
The Genie 1600 features a 1/1.8-inch, charge-coupled device sensor (8.923 mm diagonal) from SONY (ICX274) and is available in colour (C1600) and monochrome (M1600) versions running at 15 fps. Additional features include: global electronic shutter with exposure control, on-board flat-field correction and on-board colour conversion (used by the colour model) to produce crisp and clear images.
The system acts as a single machine-vision component - combining both camera and board image-acquisition technologies in a single, small package. Each unit features an RJ45 ruggedised screw-mount cable connector, which is ideal for robotic applications.
These new cameras take full advantage of Gigabit Ethernet technology, enabling data to be transmitted over standard Category 5e (CAT-5e) and Category 6 (CAT-6) cables up to 100 m long.
The Genie C1600 and M1600 cameras are supported by Dalsa's Sapera Essential software and its Genie Framework package for fast and simple system set-up. Furthermore, the Genie Framework employs what the firm refers to as trigger-to-image reliability engineering - significantly accelerating application development and deployment time by providing developers with a complete view of the entire acquisition process.
